SHETLAND ISLANDS MITOCHONDRIAL (MATERNAL LINE) DNA RESULTS
HAPLOGROUP "J"
(JASMINE)
Name:  CHRISTINA PETERSON was born 1817 in Breck, Whiteness (kit # 77186).
Motif:  16069T, 16126C, 73G, 228A, 263G, 295T, 315.1C, 462T, 482C, 489C.
Subclade:  J*.
Matches:  There is little that can be said about the HVR1 motif as the two mutations are
those defining haplogroup J, but there are no others and so there is no use in reporting
the results of standard databases as J* is scattered across Europe and the Middle
East.  It is the HVR2 results that may provide some geographical specificity.  Turning
to the FTDNA customer database (which has a British Isles bias) there are 14 exact
HVR1 and HVR2 matches.  Still there are matches from Hungary and Poland to
Scotland and Wales.  The single matches in Scotland and Norway are perhaps the most
pertinent.  The Shetland Database of 503 samples found in the Goodacre study located
17 with the above motif (HVR1 only).
