*** The youngest brother of Mary HILL, Capt. David HILL Karonghyontye was hereditary Bear Clan sachem ASTAWENSERONTHA until his death in 1790 at which time the eldest son of Mary HILL, Capt. Seth HILL Kanenkaregowagh inherited the title from his maternal uncle - as was the custom among Six Nations people.
