DEED from ADAM AND CATHARINE YOUNG of their LAND in BLEECKER'S PATENT on the MOHAWK RIVER to their son JOHN YOUNG - 1771 |
On 25 April 1771, Adam and Catharine Elizabeth Young deeded their homestead in Bleecker's (Otsquago) Patent to John Young. Some years before, Adam and his family had moved to Young's Patent (partitioned in 1767) at Young's Lake (now Warren), Herkimer county, New York. It was here at what was known as the Geissenburg Settlement that John was living at the time the Revolution broke out, and it was this property that was burned by the Rebels in 1777. It is this 105 acre parcel of land that John noted in his claim for compensation before the Loyalist Commissioners in 1787. |
